Job Summary

A Brief Overview

Reporting to the EDIIA Director in the Department of Family Medicine and supervised by the Associate Director, Administration, Initiatives and Operations, the EDIIA and Community Engagement Coordinator will support the development and ongoing management of EDIIA-focused activities.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with internal and external partners, including community members who are committed to being actively engaged in the conceptualization and implementation of EDIIA initiatives.

Project coordination will align with the Department of Family Medicine's Strategic Plan along with Queen's Health Sciences Strategic Plan in its commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigeneity and Accessibility, in engaging university and community members, strengthen partnerships and remain socially accountable with EDIIA priorities.

The incumbent must ensure that responsibilities and activities remain consistent with these values and priorities.

The incumbent will perform a wide array of duties relating to EDIIA including development support of an EDIIA strategy for community engagement, recruitment of committee participants, managing data, developing communication tools, supporting knowledge translation including preparation for various meetings, etc.

This position manages projects, and acts as the project lead by developing work plans, investigating issues, seeking feedback, managing risks, anticipating challenges, and making recommendations.

This position provides strategic support, coordination, research, modelling and analysis to contribute to the completion of project deliverables. This position works closely with senior leadership team on communications to raise awareness for the project.
The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours, including regular attendance at early morning meetings.


Job Description:

" What you will do

Acts as the project lead for small-scale projects by developing work plans, investigating issues, seeking feedback, managing risks, anticipating challenges, and making recommendations.

Takes the lead in developing strategies to collect, organize, model and analyze information from a variety of different sources.

Conducts data analysis and performs research to support the collection, synthesis, and interpretation of complex material and data to facilitate decision making.

Analyses information requests and defines data requirements.

Leads and conducts information gathering exercises.

Develops communications plans to raise awareness of the projects.

Oversees the project budget, and identifies costs and processes expenses.

Schedules and assigns work, and provides direction on its completion. Coordinates and monitors workflow.

Prepare project schedules.

Supports and coordinates the recruitment of the Community Advisory Board and community researchers and provides support in their project work.

Establishes, maintains and manages databases.

Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit. Required Education
Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. Required Experience
More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
Experience in managing/developing strategic communication plans considered an asset.

Experience in planning and/or managing projects considered an asset.


Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.).

Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.

Experience working with diverse populations/equity deserving groups considered an asset.

Experience working with Indigenous groups considered an asset. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge and Requirements

Knowledge of concepts and principles in a specialist field that is typically acquired through a combination of advanced professional or academic qualifications and/or substantial work experience.

Provide effective consultation and advice on non-straightforward and/or complex issues.
