Your mission

Imagia Canexia Health is looking for a Laboratory Associate to join our laboratory team.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will process clinical oncology samples and assist in developing our assays for cancer treatment selection and monitoring.

Your work directly helps identify targeted treatments and clinical trials that can benefit cancer patients.

What you'll do

  • Participate in standard clinical testing, assay development, and validation processes.
  • Adhere to laboratory accreditation standards of the Diagnostic Accreditation Program and the College of American Pathologists.
  • Perform laboratory procedures including sample accessioning, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, Real-Time PCR, next generation sequencing according to established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assist in the evaluation of technical procedures and provides input into the update of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluates quality control measures and take part in quality assurance activities.
  • Perform data entry and data retrieval from the Laboratory Information System. Completes laboratory worksheets and logs.
  • Prepare reagents, standards and quality control materials in accordance to Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, identifies and reports malfunctions.
  • Monitor laboratory supplies and restocks to appropriate levels.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following established safe work practices and using personal protective equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Who you are
-
Education & experience:You have a Bachelor's degree in molecular biology or equivalent and have 4 or more years of experience in either a molecular biology laboratory or a medical testing laboratory OR you have a Master's degree in molecular biology or equivalent and have 2 or more years of experience in either a molecular biology laboratory or a medical testing laboratory.

Laboratory skills:Prior experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR and next-generation sequencing, experience with high sample volume throughput and Laboratory Information Systems. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems is an asset.-
Interpersonal skills:Effective communication skills - both verbal and in writing. Able to work independently and in collaboration with others.

Organizational skills: Able to organize and prioritize workload; able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Attention to detail:Possess a strong eye for detail and have meticulous work habits.

Physically able: to perform the duties of the job.

Flexibility:Able to work a flexible schedule during the week Monday-Friday.
