    Hazelwood Construction Services, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking Forepersons and Superintendents for various projects all over Vancouver Island.

    Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.

    Compensation

    • $38 to $45 per hour depending on position, experience and qualifications
    • Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
    • Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours
    • Pension contributions: $ 4.80 per hour worked

    • Provision of a Hazelwood pickup truck and fuel card for work-related use

    Summaries

    The Foreperson manages workers, motivating them to complete projects on schedule. The Foreperson ensures that the crew complies with site rules and regulations while monitoring their work quality. The Foreperson will also collaborate with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project proceed as planned. The Foreperson will read blueprints and construction plans, maintain equipment and manage paperwork. They may also work on the project site alongside the crew.

    The Superintendent is primarily responsible for all aspects of project management on multiple worksites, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating construction projects from start to finish. The Superintendent monitors workers and subcontractors to ensure that duties are being completed in an efficient, effective, and safe manner. The Superintendent must have a strong dedication to health and safety in the workplace, ensuring all workers and subcontractors perform their duties in accordance with Hazelwood Construction's policies and procedures.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years' experience in civil construction
    • 5 years work experience in site management.
    • Ability to properly read and understand blueprints.
    • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and OH&S guidelines.
    • Understanding of equipment and machinery on a job site.
