Project Manager, Advisor - Mississauga, Canada - The Cigna Group
Description
Please note, this position will be hybrid working 1-2 days a week from our Mississauga Head Office.
- Provides advanced professional input to complex portfolios/projects.
- Leads medium sized timelimited project or components of a larger project and directs one or more teams of business consultants involved in the evaluation of systems requirements and/or the development of new procedures/processes/policy solutions to address complex business needs. May also assess impact and implications from a cost, schedule, scope, efficiency, quality, contractual, legal and/or regulatory standpoint.
- Evaluates project status and resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness.
- Collects and analyzes process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures.
- Uses Project Management and Industry best practices and knowledge to improve products or services.
- Solves complex problems. May coordinate with other project managers.
- Works on significant processes within a business organization or across various functional areas.
- Supports and provides direction to more junior professionals. Works autonomously, only requiring "expert" level technical support from others.
- Exercises judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of both standard and complex techniques and procedures.
- Utilizes indepth professional knowledge and acumen to develop models and procedures, and monitor trends.
Essential Functions:
- Portfolio / Project Planning
- Accountable for planning, prioritizing, executing and controlling a portfolio/project. Establishes appropriate governance for the portfolio/project, including communication for product scope, project scope and project duration. Develops reporting strategy for portfolio / project.
- Relationship building organizes and leads a matrixed project team using clear and communicated Responsibility Assignment Matrix methods. Maintains clear communication regarding expectations, progress and dependencies. monitors customer satisfaction. Builds relationships beyond the portfolio/project environment. Organizes and leads a matrixed portfolio/project team. Provides feedback and focus to all team members
- Portfolio / Project Execution
- Takes responsibility for project and actively executes to plan while maintaining quality standards. Ensures that all commitments are met in accordance with project goals/objectives.
- Demonstrates control of dependencies, costs, portfolio/project activities and customer handover requirements. Responsible for reporting on financials, scope, quality and schedule progress based upon portfolio/project goals. Ensures strategy for cost control is used and has good understanding of data to predict portfolio/project success.
- Manage Risks and Changes
- Performs risk management, manages change, formulates action plans, mitigates risk to minimize delivery delays and costs.
- Portfolio/Project, Process and Tools
- Actively uses project methods, processes and tools. Work within defined framework or responsibility and leverages a variety of projecttool.
- Financials
- Manage financials for the assigned project(s) / portfolio including monthly variance analysis and working with people leaders for reconciliation.
- Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, team problemsolving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary
- Defines and/or supports the definition of endtoend schedules including release schedules, identify dependences, solutions to business problems, and provide updates as priorities and schedules change.
- Participates in the establishment of project management best practices and method within the PMO and the adoption of such practices across the company.
Qualifications:
- College Diploma or Undergraduate Degree
- Minimum 4+ years Project Management experience
- Minimum 4+ years managing project forecast & financials
- Minimum 4+ years on a delivery team
- Experience with Scrum, exposure to Kanban and other Agile frameworks
- Certification in PMP; or PMI-ACP or; CSM
- Strong knowledge of, and work experience using, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
- Experience with Atlassian Suite of products (JIRA/Confluence)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling IT projects schedules, plans and costs
- Demonstrated experience identifying issues/risks and providing the proper mitigation Strategies
- Strong analytical, problemsolving and decisionmaking skills; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Deep knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling schedul
