A test lead typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:

Creating test strategy and test plan for required project
Reviewing test plans to ensure that all steps have been completed and all requirements have been met before approving test plans for execution
Leading the testing to create test cases to ensure the full coverage
Communicating with other project team members such as programmers, analysts, and software developers regarding project status, issues, or concerns
Coordinating with managers to ensure that deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained
Evaluating the success of a test by comparing results to predicted outcomes or using other metrics such as code coverage or defect rates
Coordinating activities with vendors and other external parties involved in the testing process
Coordinating with clients to determine project goals and objectives, and scheduling tests accordingly
Monitoring progress throughout the test cycle to ensure that milestones are met
Performing load and volume testing with team as required
Creating test reports and presenting to customers
Managing the code release approval processes to QA environments
