    Maritime Electric Company, Limited is seeking candidates for the position of: Supervisor, Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Planning (Three-Year Term)

    Reporting to the Superintendent, Operations Support, the Supervisor, T&D Planning is responsible for supervising the T&D planning team, and for the overall coordination of T&D work design requirements, process oversight, productivity, and quality control.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Supervise direct reports and make effective and supportable personnel decisions. Evaluate and recognize successful performance, discipline constructively, and productively manage workplace conflicts and grievances.
  • Plan, oversee, and report on capital projects, service work, and other programs. Schedule and track work under various operating and capital programs.
  • Develop, monitor and report on resourcing, productivity, customer experience, and other related metrics.
  • Serve as a liaison between Maritime Electric, construction management companies, electricians, and electrical engineering companies in the completion of construction projects.
  • Ensure consistency in work design methods, customer estimates, customer experience, and the application of rate and regulations.
  • Monitor the collection and maintenance of T&D operations data.
  • Ensure compliance to requirements associated with joint use agreements and attachment companies and support the processing of joint use data.
  • Oversee the development and acquisition of easements required for customer and company-initiated work.
  • Monitor assigned work and provide the training, coaching, and process support to field personnel.
  • Identify and implement work planning and design process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Operations Support team members to ensure all personnel, material, contractor, and financial resource requirements are identified and managed effectively.
  • The successful candidate must have post-secondary education in a related field, combined with considerable directly related utility work experience of five plus years in utility operations, project management, or related construction services; experience supervising employees in a technical, design, or field operations environment; and strong verbal and written skills to effectively communicate plans, directives, and objectives.

    This position requires working knowledge of operational systems, such as Customer Information Systems, Work Management Systems, Geographic Information Systems, and Outage Management Systems; an understanding of utility construction planning, joint-use partnerships and processes, and utility rates and general rules and regulations; strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills; working knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation, applicable CSA standards, and familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code; and working knowledge of materials, processes, tools, and equipment used in utility design, construction, and operations.

    This term position offers a competitive and comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The range of salary would be: $75,000 - $100,000 per annum.
