Position Summary:


The Lovering Place Program Manager works under the direction of the Director of Operations and is responsible for the supervision of staff, the day-to-day operations and coordination of services dedicated to the recovery of individuals with the lived experience of mental health, addictions and other complex needs.

The manager will take a leadership role in the ongoing planning and evaluation of programs and services to improve the quality of life of the Lovering Place residents' in conjunction with the Management team and other colleagues in the community.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources

  • Assume overall responsibility for the day to day operation of the programs & services of Lovering Place
  • Recruit, interview and select wellqualified fulltime and parttime staff
  • Supervise and evaluate staff in the performance of their duties
  • Participate in work performance development plans of staff
  • Ensure that effective staff schedules are in place and manage staff sick time and vacation leave
  • Conduct staff meetings and program/services planning and evaluation processes
  • Ensure that a comprehensive orientation is provided to all staff, students, volunteers and peer support specialists
Program Management

  • Ensure that residential facilities are maintained and that the residence passes fire, health and safety inspections as required
  • Participate in the coordination of referrals, assessments, admissions and discharges of all residents to the appropriate program/services
  • Prepare and/or review appropriate reports, and oversee the collection and maintenance of records related to residents i.e. data collection as required i.e. statistical information, assessment protocols, outcomes
  • Participate in Management Team meetings
  • Participate in and provide education and staff training
  • Provide on call and coverage responsibilities after hours and on weekends.
  • Perform other duties as maybe required.
Service Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with and under the guidance of the program nurses to provide oversite of medication management for residents including ensuring the proper storage, administration and monitoring of medications.
  • Work collaboratively with and under the guidance of the program nurses to provide over site of the overall healthcare needs of the residents
  • Participate in crisis intervention as required
  • Ensure trustee protocols are followed per our contract with social services
  • Participate on the oncall roster as may be required
  • Direct and monitor the maintenance of client health care records i.e. binders, files
  • Ensure occupancy levels of residences and/or caseloads as per contract agreements
  • Participate in the development, implementation and assessment of individual client wellness plans as per standardized assessment tools and ensure plans are implemented in a proactive manner.
  • Participate in case conferences, community consultation, multidisciplinary team work as required
  • Maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with a variety of colleague agencies and community based resources, and family members
Financial Management

  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of daily expenditures and take corrective action where necessary
  • Administer, approve and monitor expenditures related to the daytoday operation of programs/services i.e. petty cash, staff mileage, maintenance/cleaning, recreation funds etc.
  • Identify clinical and operational budget requirements i.e. Ensure accuracy of staff payroll
  • Assist Management in budget preparation and identify annual needs re: equipment and furnishings
Risk Management

  • Ensure that risks are identified and documented as per incident reports and Threat Assessment Team protocols
  • Investigate complaints/incidents, ensure that appropriate action is taken to mitigate risks, and report on action plans and outcomes
  • Ensure a safe working environment and safe working practices as per OHS and the Phoenix Threat Assessment Team
  • Ensure tenant and building emergency evacuation and fire safety meetings are conducted on a regular basis
  • Ensure that crisis response/emergency systems/safety plans are developed and in place in line with overall crisis intervention protocols
  • Manage clinical risk with clients in consultation with Management and colleague and community resources
