Job Title:
HOME CENTRE CLERK I
Reporting to the Hardware Manager, responsibilities for this position include the following:
- To come to work with a positive, professional approach and attitude.
- To be dependable for all scheduled shifts.
- To provide information, assistance and service to customers in a manner which will promote the sale of merchandise and meet the needs, requirements and expectations of the consumer.
- To open and close the Home Centre as directed by the Unit and/or Merchandising Manager.
- Under the direction of the Unit Manager and/or Merchandising Manager, to supervise and train staff in the general operation of assigned sections.
- To assume responsibility for a designated section of the sales floor including merchandising, inventory levels, and orderings and ensure that the section meets or exceeds association standards.
- To review and act on various P.O.S. reports as they pertain to the section and as directed by the Merchandising Manager.
- To be familiar with and adhere to Saskatoon Coop policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be strongly serviceoriented and motivated, and capable of serving and assisting customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Applicants must be prepared to increase product knowledge and improve selling techniques through special courses, product clinics and training sessions.
- Applicants must possess sufficient experience of Hardware and Building materials to effectively operate in all areas of the department.
- Applicants must possess specialized knowledge and a minimum of two years' experience in one or more of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, heating, paint, or tools.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to fulfill physical job requirements including: lifting and carrying of 5075 lbs of force occasionally, 1020 lbs of force constantly, and the ability to climb ladders.
- Estimating experience will be considered an asset.
- Must be able to work
mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
