We work on projects covering a wide variety of sectors including Northern projects that benefit Indigenous groups.


We are seeking to hire an Environmental Risk Assessor with at least 3 years' experience, to join our risk assessment team in Markham, ON.


WORK LOCATION:
hybrid office/ work from home (1-2 days per week in office)


COMPENSATION: 63k-80k, commensurate with experience; comprehensive health benefits plan; RRSP matching.

***Reporting to the Risk Assessment Division Manager, the Environmental Risk Assessor performs human and ecological risk assessments, including data review, exposure assessment, and risk characterization.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Completing risk assessments, data management and quantitative analyses
  • Conducting scientific literature searches and compilation of information
  • Preparation of technical reports
  • Completing screening/qualitative reports
  • Assisting with cost estimates and proposals
  • Developing clear language materials, reports and presentations

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical or environmental engineering, or environmental science (a Master's degree would be preferred). Applicants with an alternate educational background such as toxicology, or chemistry
    in conjunction with work experience directly applicable to this role, will be considered
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in the field of environmental risk assessment, conducting human health and ecological risk assessments. Familiarity with the federal risk assessment process would be an asset
  • Experience conducting O. Reg 153/04 assessments
  • Experience performing quantitative analysis
  • Data analysis, statistics, and use of advanced functions in Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Creative mindset and problem

  • Strong client service attitude, responsiveness and sense of urgency

$63,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
