Misteelco Inc. is seeking a Commercial Credit Officer reporting to the Director of Finance. This role is key to the continued growth and success of Misteelco.The Commercial Credit Officer will be responsible for:
- Assessing credit worthiness of prospective customers and approving / recommending credit terms and limits appropriate to the customer's requirements on Consumer & Commercial accounts.
- Sound knowledge of assessing and reviewing financial statements to ensure credit worthiness vs. acceptable level of risk.
- Maintain good channels of communication with all business units including interaction with senior leadership team.
- Contribute to operational improvements to streamline procedures/processes and enhance service
- Assist the Director of Finance to Developing/Maintaining Credit policies, procedures, and risk management strategies
- Perform monthly reconciliations of AR, GL and sub ledger accounts
- Complete ad hoc customer and receivable analysis as required
- Take accountability and ensure that appropriate action has been and is being taken on accounts through the ongoing assessment of client's credit worthiness
- Manage the collection process through client communication, the issuing of Payment Demand Letters and subsequently filing of Small and/or Superior Court Claims.
- Manage the Accounts Receivable Insurance process.
- Other Duties as assigned by Management
- Excellent listening skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of lending principles
- A good understanding and knowledge of credit risk processes, credit risk analytics, risk rating methodologies, and risk management policies
- Knowledge and understanding of credit bureau reports
- Knowledge and understanding of detailed financial statement and ratio analysis
- Knowledge of standard office software (Work, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients
- 3 years of Direct experience in Credit Risk Governance and Credit Policy
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
