    Description

    Responsible for the scaling of all trucks that enter the landfill or transfer station while providing efficient, courteous customer service to GFL's internal and external customers.

    Job Duties

    Provide prompt and courteous service to our drivers
    Ensures that trucks are properly positioned on scales for accurate weights
    Inspect loads and query drivers as required. Enter load information and customer/truck information into computer and operate computerized truck scale to determine weight of load
    Operate computer to process proper charges to be assigned for each load, and generate charge ticket on printer
    Prepare custom documents for clearance
    Accurately perform routine data entry into a computer, make accurate basic mathematical calculations and accurately post and keep legible records
    File weight tickets for each load, and maintain records of all incoming/outgoing loads that cross the scales
    Check the information on the driver's paperwork to the information printed on the weight certificate to be certain that the information for all loads is accurate
    Sort and process weight tickets for each day's receipts before they are turned into the office supervisor. Complete daily scale/receipt reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets and other reports as assigned
    Assist in maintaining facility sire security and access control
    Maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition at all times. Keep the scales clean and free of debris.

    Requirements
    High school Diploma or GED.
    Two (2) years' experience in a customer service position involving receipt and disbursement of money or comparable experience.
    Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    Perform basic mathematics in determining the proper amount to charge for dumping at the landfill.
    Read and accurately record scale reading, make change concerning collection of moneys and balance the cash receipt daily.
    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public.
    Deal with public and general contractors and suppliers courteously and tactfully.
