Pediatric Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) at MCH includes consultative, operative and follow-up services for infants, children and adolescent patients.

The patient population consists of large volume outpatient as well as inpatient surgical and non-surgical care of patients suffering from congenital and acquired disorders of the Ear, Nose and Throat.

The MCH Otolaryngology team utilizes a multidisciplinary and collaborative team approach to patient care.


The MCH pediatric otolaryngologists specialize in the care of pediatric patients with diverse congenital, developmental and acquired disorders of the head and neck.

In addition to assessing and treating children with recurrent ear infections, hearing loss and sleep apnea the physicians also manage children with more complex conditions of the airway, sinuses and ear.

Benign and malignant neck masses are also treated by our team as well as critical airway support to our neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.

The group has extensive collaboration with other surgical disciplines including pediatric neurosurgery and plastic surgery as well as other health care providers including audiologists, speech language pathologists and respiratory therapists.


Position Summary

Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday, days. Evenings and weekends as needed.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of Physician Assistant Program
  • Prior experience in the Pediatric Otolaryngology and/or Pediatric Acute Care settings an asset
  • Proficiency in performing history and examination of the infant, toddler, child and adolescent
  • Knowledge and assessment of developmental milestones at all stages of pediatric development including the unique aspects of adolescent development
  • Experience and ability to lead and facilitate the development and implementation of basic and advanced education programs for patients, families, staff, other health professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and perform well in critical high stress situations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with peers and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including Intensivists, Nurses and other health care professionals
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to promote professional development
  • Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient and familycentered care
  • Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problemsolving, organization and prioritization
  • Able to handle significant daily psychological and emotional stress in dealing with parents of critically or chronically ill children
  • As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID19 vaccination to Employee Health Services._
