The Offord Centre for Child Studies and the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis are seeking a highly motivated Data Manager to provide support for an independent evaluation on the delivery and outcomes of autism services in Ontario.

This work includes both a process evaluation (e.g., with a focus on service delivery to the targeted population), and an outcome evaluation (e.g., with a focus on measuring the intended effects of the program on the targeted population).


Job Summary:


Accountabilities:


  • Compile and maintain a metadata catalogue of historical and current data obtained from research sites, core activities and research projects.
  • Manage a centralized database for holding diverse datasets in coordination with data management personnel from institutional partners, and perform offsite data backups.
  • Provides scientists (students, researchers, collaborators) the ability to visualize, download and upload data to and from the database.
  • Respond to external user data requests and compile information.
  • Manage gridded spatial and/or temporal datasets, including simulation outputs.
  • Perform and document procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, standardization and analysis.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methodology related to various programs to determine completeness and adequacy of the data collection procedures.
  • Attend meetings and reports the data management performance and activities to the stakeholders, and the Committees.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with catalogue and database.
  • Provide guidance, advice, and solutions to users of database.
  • Exchange technical information and data with colleagues.
  • Generate reports for data completeness and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training and information sessions on interaction with core database structures along with best data management practices.
  • Collaborate with graduate students and other researchers to assist data management activities.
  • Write a variety of documents such as procedure manuals, correspondence and reports.

Supervision

  • Provides functional guidance to others on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications:


Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field of study.

Experience:
Requires 3 years of relevant experience.


Assets:


The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge in the areas of quantitative methods of analysis, various research methodologies, project evaluation and evaluation methodology.

The successful applicant will have a proven track record in working with large datasets.

The successful applicant will be part of a larger research and evaluation team but the majority of the work will require the individual to be self-motivated and forward thinking.

The ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, effectively manage multiple project timelines and competing priorities, have excellent problem solving skills, as well as interpersonal, organizational, and supervisional skills are all considered assets.

Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and/or other neurodevelopmental disorders would be extremely beneficial.
