THE OPPORTUNITY - YOUTH PROGRAM JOB COACH (F/T; salaried)


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Assists youth with disabilities to obtain and maintain work experience
  • Assist youth to develop community engagement including learning to take public transit, community safety, act appropriately and develop lasting community connections
  • Assess youth readiness for work and identify associated life skills or community skills requiring development
  • Identify potential work experience, employment or community skill building opportunities
  • Work with team to implement the Meticulon (MAS) Assessment of youth in the program
  • Assess the safety of the community environment, worksite and job/activity
  • Provide on location support and facilitate the student's work or activity to increase the prospect of ongoing success
  • Support students in any area where they require supports to be successful within the community including personal care, managing behaviours, physical support needs, etc.

WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests.

These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:


  • Diploma/Degree in Disability Studies, or a related social science or business
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with external parties such as local businesses, school staff, families, and community resources
  • This position requires travel to rural communities, the Bow Corridor & Rocky View District
  • Valid class 5 license and a reliable vehicle required
