    The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

    Position title: Supervisor
    Department: Central Stores

    Reports to: Stores & Purchasing Manager
    Employee status: Temporary, part-time until August 31, 2024
    Compensation: $18.50 per hour.


    Position Overview

    The Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the storeroom. Under the guidance of the Stores & Purchasing Manager, they ensure the proper receiving, checking, storing and distribution of all food and beverage related goods according to AMS standards and procedures.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee storeroom operations in absence of the Stores & Purchasing Manager
  • Ensuring consistently high guest experience and product quality through proper receiving and storage procedures and timely deliveries according to AMS standards and procedures
  • Ordering supplies as per AMS standards and procedures
  • Expediting supplies and ensuring proper, complete deliveries
  • Completing, coordinating, monitoring, maintaining, and controlling F&B inventories
  • Generate purchase orders, monitor vendor performance for on-time, correct deliveries
  • Maintaining and utilizing all storeroom related equipment
  • Working with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department
  • Training of new staff hires
  • Other duties as required
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Preference given to currently registered UBC students
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to multi task
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficient knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word & Excel)
  • Language: Required to speak, read and write English
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stand for 100% of shift
  • Ability to lift up to 22kgs (50 lbs)
  • Ability to complete simple math conversions
  • Food Safe level 1 an asset
