THE OPPORTUNITY
Western is currently hiring for
Sawmill Production Labourers at our sawmills in
Nanaimo, Ladysmith and Chemainus, BC. We have multiple positions available at each location.


Current opportunities:


  • Ladysmith Sawmill Operations, Ladysmith
  • Saltair Sawmill Division, Ladysmith
  • Duke Point Sawmill, Nanaimo
  • Chemainus Sawmill Division, Chemainus
  • Chemainus Value Added Division, Chemainus

Shifts:

-
Production Labourers:Monday-Friday, day, afternoon and graveyard shifts
- _ Production employees are required to work a variety of shifts and may begin on an on-call basis until a full-time position becomes available._


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All employees will start in general labour or cleanup positions, and then progress from there into a variety of roles including machine operators.
  • All employees must maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Supporting other areas of the operations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working in a labour job in a safetysensitive environment (industrial or tradesrelated environment);
    HOWEVER, we will train people without this background if they have the right attitude and want to learn:
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety;
  • A strong work ethic with willingness to lend a helping hand;
  • An eagerness to learn and try new things;
  • Mobile equipment certification/experience is an asset; and,
  • Lumber grading ticket is a
    definite asset.
