POSITION PURPOSE:

The Sales Manager - New Accounts is responsible for generating new business sales across the American Expediting network and expanding the company's customer base.

This position is accountable for identifying and developing strategic customer business partnerships, driving profitable sales with targeted accounts. There is a high level of emphasis on meeting established new business targets in an exciting, competitive environment. The position works closely with marketing and other American Expediting sales representatives to collaboratively drive business growth.


RESPONSIBILTIES:


  • Seek and cultivate relationships with new customers to secure new business sales within targeted markets or regions
  • Effectively demonstrate American Expediting's value proposition to customers using live inperson and/or computerbased virtual demonstrations
  • Conduct cold calling and onsite visits with prospective customers
  • Develop written proposals for new customers and coordinate crossfunctionally to ensure customer requirement are met
  • Develop and qualify a pipeline of potential new business and ensure pipeline progression and ongoing activity
  • Use CRM, market data, seasonal trends, and Amex reporting to effectively develop a sales plan to maximize time and strategy, enable understanding of current business performance and identify opportunities and priorities
  • Partner with marketing in lead generation that leverages a knowledge of the industry and market(s) to identify opportunities and win new business
  • Crosssell to new customers in markets or regions where American Expediting has expanded its capability and footprint through acquisition
  • Network with potential customers and influencers at trade shows, conferences and industry events
  • Support price and surcharge initiatives in negotiating contract terms and conditions for signing new business
  • Coordinates with pricing and operations planning teams to ensure new business is onboarded effectively
  • Facilitates handoff of new business accounts to internal sales managers to grow the business going forward
  • Participate in sales meetings, training programs, special sales initiatives as directed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
  • 7+ years of sales, with strong experience in B2B or transportation/logistics, life science industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Bilingual English/French strongly preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Prior experience selling on the value of a product or service to meet the needs of a customer, from cold call through close
  • A track record of performing in a variable pay role with a considerable portion of compensation tied to achievement of defined sales objectives
  • Driving success in business with a clear and intentional customer or territory strategy
  • Successful history of building strong customer relationships
