Associate Counsellor (contract)
Emotion Wise Counselling is a growing practice looking to hire skilled and experienced counsellors to offer in-person and virtual services in downtown Vancouver, BC.
We are a counselling practice that specializes in working with people with complex trauma and emotion regulation as well as anxiety, and depression.
Who you are:
- Passionate about learning and training in therapies supported by research that help people with PTSD and complex PTSD and emotion regulation
- Understand the effect of colonialism and impact of Residential schools on Indigenous peoples and on the fabric of Canadian society
- Awareness of issues of social inequity and justice and value integrating into counselling work
- Skilled at building relationships and have strong empathy balanced with therapeutic skills to focus on identified problems
- Are a team player, enjoys collaboration and innovation while confident and independent as a therapist who seeks ongoing education and supervision.

You must also:
- Have a Master's degree in counselling, social work, or a related discipline and 2 years of experience (education and experience considered as equivalent)
- Be a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC)or Registered Social Worker (RSW or RCSW)
- Hold current and sufficient professional liability insurance in British Columbia.
- Demonstrated clinical experience working with culturally diverse clients with complex trauma and emotion regulation issues
- Registered with FNHA, ICBC, CVAP, and/or willingness to register
- Training and/or experience in DBT therapy and/or EMDR therapy (or registered for EMDR training upcoming)
- Be willing to provide both inperson and virtual services (this is NOT an virtual position only)
- Must be available for minimum 10 client hours per week
- Abide by your registered body's (eg. BCCSW) standards and practice and ethicsand seek outside supervision for your practice.
Additional desired qualities:
- experience in facilitating DBT therapy groups
- ability to work evenings/weekends
- experience working with youth, couples, and/or Indigenous clients
- trained in ERP for OCD therapy
- experience working with Eating disorders
- registered in multiple provinces in Canada for virtual therapy
