Mission Community Services Society is hiring a Youth Support Worker. Reporting to the Manager, Family Services, the Youth Support Worker provides community-based comprehensive and integrated services to vulnerable youth.What you'll do
- Provide support and crisis intervention services at the point of contact where necessary and refer to appropriate ancillary services for extended service provision.
- Participate in staff meetings, training programs and approved workrelated conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Ensure the accurate reports and statistics are maintained and submitted.
- Maintain a current knowledge of, and comply with, all organizational policy and procedures.
- Liaison as necessary with MCFD and Xyolhemeylh and participate in meetings.
- Work to ensure the youth's individual care plans are operationalized.
- Promote and arrange activities for clients which will facilitate specified goals.
- Support the youth to achieve their goals.
- Liaise with and support effective working relationships with community agencies and educational institutions.
- Develop and facilitate life skills training for youth referred.
- Maintain case notes, statistics, reports as directed.
- Gather and review information relevant to the client's problems, needs and risks by interviewing, observing behaviour, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists, and questionnaires.
- Develop and implement shortterm, issuespecific intervention plans within program guidelines in consultation with the supervisor.
What you bring
- A minimum of a BSW, BA major in Psychology or Child and Youth Care preferred, or a related degree in the social services.
- At least 2 years previous experience in a similar working environment.
- Demonstrated direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of child protection procedures, risk management and assessment, and extensive knowledge of strengthbased Interventions.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check is required.
- Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Valid B.C. Driver's License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
Salary:
From $28.32 per hour
