) Manager within the

Corporate Training & Industry Services department. Develops and maintains relationships with corporate and industry clients to generate revenue(s) through the School's Industry Services programs and other revenue source(s) in accordance with the overall School and Institute objectives. As a member of the management team for SoCE, works closely with managers, faculty and staff to ensure the School's business objectives are achieved. Provides vision, leadership and strategic direction needed to ensure maintenance of strong relationship with our industry partners.
Duties & Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Collaborates within the School to identify and pursue corporate training and industry services opportunities across all potential areas of domestic and international opportunities to achieve determined targets. Monitors and manages revenue milestones in relation to deliverables and net return targets.
  • Works with the School's industry stakeholders to maintain existing and to develop new relationships and generate business opportunities. Chairs Industry Sector Advisory Groups for development and maintenance of related programs. Provides regular updates to external funding partners including Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training. Initiates and leads discussion with industry to identify education gaps and define training needs.
  • Creates communication and marketing strategies to maximize new product development, launch and delivery of related courses and programs; identifies customers and pursues business relationships and opportunities.
  • Determines appropriate pricing strategies and evaluates revenues against expenses in order to attain profit margins. Determines terms of the contract in conjunction with acceptable Institute standards. Provides technical advice and works collaboratively with the School's Dean and Associate Deans to negotiate agreements, prepare and present proposals for contracts.
  • In consultation with the Dean and/or School's management team, implements administration plans, budgets, and employee recruitment plans, for the development of assigned projects.

Assists in the creation of business plans, budgets and forecasts; supports alignment of annual business plans with the Institutes and Schools strategic objectives.


  • Develops academic quality process that ensures continuous program improvement. Conducts environmental scans, competitor research and financial analysis on economic trends pertinent to the School's industry services programs.
  • Oversees operational responsibilities for PTS courses and programs that are nonstandard delivery models or are outside an Associated Dean's portfolio such as Ministry funded credentials and Construction Safety Officer programming. Manages new Industry Service programs through the BCIT credential approval process and oversees related operational responsibilities.
  • In conjunction with the Associate Dean oversees development of new Industry Training Authority programs until overall viability determination; facilitates smooth transition to respective department.
  • Oversees development and operations of all sector sponsored programs Manages deployment of assigned targeted government and philanthropic funding within the school. Oversees the development, management and maintenance of a client management system/database with up to date contact information. Develops and maintains up to date knowledge of BCIT programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Keeps abreast of market trends to ensure Institute's strategic positioning on emerging and viable opportunities. Keeps uptodate of political, economic, social, and educational trends. Participates in professional organizations that enhance personal and professional development as it specifically relates to this field.
  • Manages reporting staff, including selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and all other peoplemanagement practices.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Master's degree in Education or Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Ten years of progressive experience working within, business communities, industry, and community groups with 5 years postsecondary experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage cross functional teams to launch new initiatives and drive continuous innovation, forge new partnerships, identify business development opportunities, and bring them to fruition.
  • Strong knowledge of pedagogical approaches and ability to manage curriculum development projects from the conceptual to implementation stages.
  • Advanced project management skills including developing client relations, project delivery, and entrepreneurial activity.
