Scope of Position:
The Technical Leader HVDC will support the development and construction of offshore wind projects in North America. This role will define, mature, and deliver the HVDC converter station scope of offshore wind projects.


Responsibilities:


75% - Engineering work

  • Lead electrical engineering technical work for HVDC converter stations from early stage development up to the execution phase of projects.
  • Support the technical interfaces with other technical, development, and commercial teams to ensure communication of required inputs and outputs.
  • Support the engineering assurance for the JV, including presenting to shareholder assurance teams, clients and thirdparty reviewers on project progress and ahead of decision gates.
  • Provide technical support to the development team in all phases of projects, to ensure that they develop competitive and optimal projects, including during the BOEM process and other federal, state, and municipal permits and stakeholders' engagement.
  • Give technical support to projects services, including schedule, risk management and costs estimates.
  • Support the development of HVDC converter stations / equipment technical specifications.
  • Provide technical support to the commercial team with external vendors, including support the tendering and execution of RFI, RFP and preparation of proposals.
  • Offer technical support for interface with regulatory agencies, CVA and other external stakeholders. Prepare required documents for submittal and approval.

20% - Participate in project team meetings, due diligence review and cross discipline cooperation:

  • Stimulate continuous improvement and innovation within the team, internally within the JV and between its different business units, as well as through regular exchanges with the other engineering teams within the different divisions of parent companies EDF Renewables and Shell.
  • Participate in conferences/seminars to stay on the cutting edge of technology and to develop and maintain relationships with potential service providers who can support the team.

5% - Other duties as assigned

No Direct Reports.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of HVDC technology, and applicable codes / standards
  • Demonstrated experience in HVDC systems engineering, installation, and commissioning.

Physical Requirements:


Ability to travel regularly to an Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time, as well as attend conferences, or meet with partners as needed.


Working Conditions:


Approximately 15% of the time is spent in the field nationally and internationally, visiting potential and existing projects, manufacturing yards, vendors and suppliers, and meeting with project team members.

85% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft
