Position

Process Control Analyst

Location
Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic
Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of
Vancouver and the Okanagan.


Summary
Reporting to the E/I General Foreman, the Process Control Analyst is responsible for the efficient use of

Process equipment and SCADA to optimize plant machines for production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all health, safety, and environmental requirements,
  • Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site's safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
  • Observes Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mines Act, and Copper Mountain SOPs,
  • Works with the existing Process Control Analyst, Metallurgy staff and Operations/Maintenance staff to optimize systems as needed by the requirements of monthly production goals,
  • Assists in tuning of PID loops in DCS, programming and modifications of assets and new items/equipment as required,
  • Ensures the effective operation of all associated hardware or organizes assistance when outside of onsite capabilities,
  • Performs monthly reporting,
  • Works with IT department to manage the overall DCS/Mill/fiber networks (This includes all backups, imaging, server changes, camera servers and IP designations),
  • Attend meetings and coordination sessions to assist in Mill optimization and efficiency,
  • Performs any other responsibilities related to the Process Control Analyst position as required or as assigned by the department head.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of Instrumentation Red Seal or Diploma in Automation Technologies,
  • At least 5 years' experience in programming or monitoring of Industrial plant SCADA,
  • Formal training in ABB 800x software is an asset,
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N British Columbia driver's license and have access to personal transportation.

Required Skills:


  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Have high regard for personal safety and the safety of company property and employees,
  • Proven knowledge of basic computer hardware configurations and setup,
  • Working knowledge of mining process, mill concentrator process and pumping and conveying systems,
  • Networking and fiber optic knowledge and skills are an asset,
  • Able to multitask and still meet deadlines,
  • Skills in Microsoft Office suite is required,
  • Familiarity with Endress Hauser/Rosemount/Allen Bradley/ABB/GE Multilin is an asset,
  • Will be required to be cleanshaven,
  • Required to meet preemployment testing requirements.

Working Conditions

  • Work requires working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs (this is rare as this is mostly an office position, however field time is a necessity),
  • Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving, (this is rare as this is mostly an office position, however field time is a necessity),
  • Infrequent exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds.

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of preemployment screening requirements and drug & alcohol testing,
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada,
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements.
