We are currently recruiting for aHealth and Safety Specialist to join our team.
Reporting to the Director, Warehouse Operations, Health and Safety Specialist will encompass functions related to safety in the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Role Responsibilities:
- Respect TOC Logistics primary focus that is to ensure the
"Safety" of the coworkers. - Perform internal (coworkers) training, including New Hire Safety Orientation. Ensure proper documentation and record retention for all safety training to maintain compliance (Forklift, WHMIS, First Aid, etc).
- Perform periodic safetyrelated audits/inspections, prepare action plans, and ensure that appropriate personnel accountable for corrections are completed.
- Participate in the incident investigation process from beginning to resolution with appropriate management team.
- Implement any preventative actions as a result of an investigation.
- Provide administrative support and reporting capability, including preparing monthly training reports of coworker participation.
- Prepare reports and presentations on safety and quality performance for management.
- Be the primary point of contact for WCB/WSIB matters as they relate to the Worker, Employer and Worker's Compensation Board.
- Be involved in the ReturntoWork coordination along with Accommodation Plans for all workrelated and nonworkrelated disability claims.
- Lead the JHSC preparing the Agenda, Minute Taking with follow up on action items.
- Assist in closing of Health and Safety audit gap findings.
- Perform risk assessments and job safety analysis as needed.
- Present safetyrelated information at shift meetings.
- Collaborate with appropriate department personnel to resolve identified hazards.
- Act as the liaison during external safety, fire, and environmental audits, including Ministry of Labour inspections.
- Perform other safety and CI related duties/assignments as deemed necessary.
- Responsible for all company locations, travel between locations is required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field of study.
- 3+years' experience managing safety operations.
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Attention to detail, selfstarter, and strong, interactive team player.
- Strong communication skills (Written/Verbal) with excellent presentation skills.
- Be competent in Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, Power Point.
- Indepth working knowledge of OHS, WSIB, WSIA, and Human Rights Legislation.
- Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.
- Ability to multitask in a highpressure work environment.
- Integrative thinker and excellent problemsolving skills.
