Description
GFL Enviromental is looking for a Service Writer to join our Winnipeg team

You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day administrative and clerical functions of the service department.

You will work closely with the Fleet Manager and Service Team Leads for smooth operations of the shop as per the Company guidelines and procedures.

Job Duties

  • Liaison for operations and maintenance technicians to gather information required to identify vehicle repair and maintenance work, as required
  • Plan and schedule fleet maintenance activities in concert with Operations, Shop Team Lead Hands, and our Parts department
  • Administer work orders, ensuring completion of all necessary work order information
  • Responsible for work order review and closing to ensure reporting accuracy within the required time.
  • Warranty Administration
  • Facilitate routine safety meetings
  • Completes all required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software programs associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Notifies the manager of the date, time and duration of the equipment and heavy trucks that are out of service.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company / OSHA Standards
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Performs any other related duties required by the manager.

Requirements:


  • Interact with people in a friendly responsive manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Correctly interpret customer requests and technician recommendations
  • Accuracy in documentation and calculations.
  • Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems
  • Work hours may require overtime, weekends and/or holidays
Heavy Equipment knowledge and experience an asset
