    Description
    Our GFL Brampton Location is currently hiring and we're in search of a qualified Branch Manager to oversee waste processing operations at both our Brampton branch and our satellite branch in Ottawa. The chosen candidate will serve as a liaison between the site(s), providing direction to the Operations Managers & Supervisors to ensure that the sites optimize operations in a way that yields the most effective, efficient and profitable operation. The Branch Manager will oversee and provide leadership to all the assigned sites.

    Job Duties

  • Responsible for overseeing and optimization of the operations and functionality of the assigned sites, while promoting safety, sanitation and security through ensuring that all awareness programs, meetings, inspections and preventative measures required have been completed on time and on a daily basis.
  • Strong cost center management experience as part of their respective operational responsibilities and have a solid track record in providing positive results.
  • Proficient understanding of Regulations impacting the various sites and operations, complete reporting on time, experience dealing with the MOE and MOL.
  • Ensure sites operate in a strict and compliant fashion within the parameters of the site's environmental approvals certificates and other requirements as set out by customers' needs and Ontario regulations.
  • Manage the financial, human and physical resources of the assigned sites in alignment with GFL's vision and values and in accordance with the annual Business Plan, with a strong focus on safety and Profit & Loss activities.
  • Full P&L responsibility and financial accountability for the location. Monthly forecasting ensuring accuracy and performance to the financial goals set for the location.
  • Provide overall direction and co-ordination of all employees under his/her jurisdiction, including hiring, training, managing performance, promotion and discipline, and recommendations for discharge in accordance with policy and practice in a unionized environment.
  • Provide guidance and direction to GFL Operations staff in all facilities with regard to waste processing and disposal policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Responsible to oversee and guide Industrial waste processing and disposal operations at all the facilities in a way that increases flexibility of the sites and reduces bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
  • Responsible for guiding and supporting the Site Operations Managers and Supervisors in the preparation and oversight of tenders/quotations and reports for operating, security and maintenance works including design, setting specifications, preparing cost estimates, project management and commissioning.
  • Must manage the facility under strict government and customer requirements needed to meet their needs of secure product handling, warehousing and ultimate product full destruction
  • Develop short and long term goals and operating procedures to achieve/maintain on-going compliance of waste processing.
  • All other duties as may be assigned related to the role and operation.
  • Requirements

  • College diploma/degree in business or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years in an Operations or other Business Manager role.
  • Experience and strong knowledge in operation of waste systems, waste processing, equipment and vehicles.
  • Experience managing a warehouse operation and associated inventory tracking systems extremely desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Highway Traffic Act, OH & S Act and Regulation 347.
  • Proven record in management of operations at waste processing sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • WHIMIS training.
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, OMS.
  • Proficient "People Manager" with demonstrated people and team building skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial skill sets such as those required to run an operation from top line to bottom line.
