**REPORTS TO**: Chair, CHEO RI Board of Directors

The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute Inc. (CHEO RI) is one of the leading hospital-based, pediatric health research institutes in Canada, which is located in Ottawa, Ontario, and operates in close alignment and integration with Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario - Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre (CHEO) and the University of Ottawa. We acknowledge that Ottawa is built on un-ceded Algonquin Anishinabek territory. The peoples of the Algonquin Anishinabek Nation have lived on this territory for millennia and we honour them and this land. Their culture and presence have nurtured and continue to nurture this land. CHEO RI supports hundreds of researchers leading to discoveries that solve health challenges for children and youth in our community and around the world. The CHEO RI Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance of the organization. Specifically, its members set and monitor strategic priorities, provide ongoing oversight, and ensure that financial resources are managed appropriately.

**BOARD OF DIRECTORS VACANCY**

The CHEO RI Board consists of 16 Directors: 9 members recruited from the broader community, 3 representatives from the University of Ottawa, and 4 representatives from CHEO and the CHEO Foundation.

CHEO RI has an **exciting Board of Director opportunity** available. We are currently seeking a volunteer Director from our community (Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec, and Nunavut) to join our Board of Directors for a 3-year term starting in 2024. **Given CHEO and CHEO RI's strong ties to Indigenous communities, CHEO RI is seeking a Board member ideally with an Indigenous background or other connection to Indigenous communities.**

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**

**In addition to familiarity with Indigenous health issues, expertise in any of the following areas would be beneficial**:

- Financial Management - CPA or equivalent designation
- Business/Human Resources
- Governance/Legal
- Commercialization/Innovation

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible to serve on Boards in Canada
- Compliance with CHEO RI's Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

L'Institut de recherche du Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario Inc. (IR du CHEO) est l'un des principaux instituts de recherche en milieu hospitalier au Canada. Il est situé à Ottawa et fonctionne en étroite collaboration avec le Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario - Centre de traitement pour enfants d'Ottawa (CHEO) et l'Université d'Ottawa. Nous reconnaissons qu'Ottawa est bâtie sur un territoire non cédé du peuple anichinabé algonquin. Les Anichinabés vivent sur ce territoire depuis des millénaires. Le conseil d'administration de l'IR du CHEO est responsable de la gouvernance générale de l'organisme. Plus précisément, ses membres définissent les priorités stratégiques et évaluent leur mise en pratique, assurent une surveillance continue et veillent à ce que les ressources financières soient gérées de manière appropriée.
