JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
St.

Leonard's Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living.

As part of the continuum, we offer Emergency Shelter Intake Services to support clients in securing emergency accommodations, a warming and cooling centre, the Housing Resource Centre, as well as our emergency shelter, Transitional Housing and Supportive Housing programs.


As part of our Housing Resource Centre, individuals and their families will be able to contact staff for support Monday-Friday between 8:30am-4:30am if they are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Clients will be supported with both low-touch and medium-high touch services based on their self-identified needs and will be referred to resources including legal clinics, income support services, food bank services, identification and tax clinics, as well as Brant Access to Housing, Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit, and the Housing Stability Fund in addition to being supported with housing searches and learning their rights and responsibilities as a tenant to prepare for successful tenancy.

The Supportive Housing Program assists clients to secure safe, affordable housing within the community.

Clients are supported by a Supportive Housing Counsellor and rent supplements are available to help bridge the difference between the client's ability to pay and the market rent to a maximum amount.


As the Housing Services Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise staff, participate in the recruiting process for program staff and provide guidance in staff performance management;
  • Work collaboratively with the Housing Services team in order to ensure program delivery to all clients;
  • Prepare monthly statistical reports and billing summaries;
  • Integrate a harm reduction approach;
  • Develop and evaluate program activities and client groups;
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the departmental work plan;
  • Facilitate department and sector case management meetings;
  • Liaise with local landlords and referring agencies;
  • Support with managing program funding and purchasing of necessary supplies; and
  • Provide support counselling and life skills training to clients and monitor their progress towards independence.

Hours of work:
Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm with flexibility to meet program needs.

Training:
Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

Our Agency is committed to the safety of staff.

We are following Public Health guidance on precautions regarding use of Personal Protective Equipment, screening of staff and clients, physical distancing, cleaning, hand hygiene, and testing.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary:
starting at $50,388 plus shift premiums and comprehensive benefits

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a college diploma in a Human/Social Services field.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' combined student placement and/or paid experience working with individuals with substance use, mental health and/or concurrent disorders and/or individuals experie
