In this exciting opportunity, the Receiving Lead Hand is responsible for ensuring operating practices result in the effective and efficient execution of the receiving of RAW product and related warehouse processes.

This position reports to the Receiving & Inventory Supervisor and will be based in our Nisku Plant.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead by example at all times by adhering to and promoting Company procedures and policies.
  • Regular and prompt attendance for scheduled shifts and overtime as required.
  • Manage through floor presence, group interaction and analysis of receiving data within predetermined productivity expectations.
  • Proper scaling of raw product and placement of stock into the storage cooler.
  • Daily update of cooler map, inventory count, report, and reconciliation of raw product in coolers.
  • Organization and housekeeping of coolers. Maintain product rotation of aged inventory.
  • Check appointment calendar and PO, prior to loading/unloading trucks.
  • Ensure fast and accurate load & offload of trucks and receiving to minimize wait times and product temperature abuse.
  • Confirm and adhere to all established company policies and procedures and government legislation pertaining to transportation of dangerous goods and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Prepare, circulate, and file documentation in accordance with departmental procedures and compile records utilizing NAV.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide correction and training as needed.
  • Implement and actively ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and Health & Safety legislative requirements.
  • Maintain general oversight of building conditions with particular attention paid to cleanliness, product storage, safety concerns, product damage prevention and internal security concerns.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, make recommendations and encourage employee feedback and suggestions.
  • Communicate any receiving issues to Receiving Supervisor and field team.
  • Maintain forklift maintenance report.
  • Oversee and manage material handling staff and processes. Ensure proper materials are being supplied to all areas of production
  • Interact with Procurement team to ensure correct materials are ordered and cycle counted
  • Prioritize, plan and coordinate the team's activities in absence of Receiving Supervisor, providing holiday relief as required.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by the Receiving Supervisor or Plant Management.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of work experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment, preferably consumer packaged goods.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including excellent written and oral skills.

KEY COMPETENCIES:


  • Effective time management skills.
  • Able to work under mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to accurately appraise situations and make decisions.
  • Proficiency in the basic use of the computer and Microsoft office programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Able to work with all levels of employees from production to senior management and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
