TIPES is a non-profit organization in Ottawa known for teaching children, youth, and adults with autism and other learning needs to reach their full potential.

Our multidisciplinary team is comprised of social workers, counsellors, behaviour technicians, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts, and a consulting clinical psychologist.

We are seeking behaviour interventionists to provide one-on-one evidence-based skill acquisition instructions


and behaviour reduction protocols to individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities in various locations including the home and community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements behavioural, academic, vocational, daily living skills, and social skills through administration of specific programs designed by a board
- certified behaviour analyst (BCBA)

  • Consistently follows appropriate behaviour protocols as documented in behaviour support plan and/or behaviour safety plan
  • Collects, records, and summarizes data on observable client behaviour
  • Assists with parent and caregiver training with client's individualized treatment and behaviour reduction protocols
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams (i.e., other professionals and organizations)
  • Completes written reports at the end of each session regarding client's behaviour and programming
  • Liaises with BCBA and/or Clinical Psychologist as needed
  • Acts in the best interest of the client
  • Abides by the policies and procedures set out by TIPES

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions while managing challenging behaviours
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as instructed in any Behaviour Intervention Plans while working with clients with challenging behaviour
  • A natural ability to remain calm, focused, and clear at all times, especially in stressful situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members, professionals, and families
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, judgment, flexibility, and initiative
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly
  • Excellent time management skills and able to adjust priorities as required
  • Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Driver's license and use of reliable vehicle
  • Valid First Aid and CPR
  • Level C training
  • Valid Vulnerable Sector Check

Education and Experience

  • A Diploma in Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, Social Service Worker or equivalent/higher education.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Experience working with children and youth with challenging and aggressive behaviours
  • Experience with oppositional defiant disorder, and conduct disorder, an asset

Working conditions

  • Exposure to challenging behaviours (i.e., disrobing, aggression, sexualized behaviour, incontinence)
  • Traveling to various locations
  • May be required irregular work schedule to accommodate client's needs
