This new position will support the President and CEO and the Executive Leadership Team in coordination and administration as well as project management and communication on external projects and relationships.

What We Do
Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS) is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. We provide overnight, residential and day programming to youth who access our services.

Based in Edmonton, YESS provides immediate and low-barrier 24/7 shelter, a drop-in resource centre, temporary supportive housing, temporary independent cohort housing, and individualized wrap-around supports for young people aged 15-24.


We work collaboratively within a network of care focused on the prevention of youth homelessness by providing youth with the necessary supports to stabilize their housing, improve their wellbeing, build life skills, connect with community, and avoid re-entry into homelessness.


What You Will Do


Reporting to the President and CEO, the Strategic Executive Coordinator will be working on varying, complex, and dynamic assignments on behalf of the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

You will be involved in assignments that have varying degrees of community engagement, stakeholder relationships, fund development impact, and confidentiality.


This role has three main areas of focus:

  • You are able to seamlessly collate, monitor, analyze, manage, and disseminate fund development and donor information to the CEO. You will be identifying potential relationships, managing commitments and scheduling, identifying issues and possibilities, assisting in building trusted relationships and evaluating expected outcomes.
  • You are able to collaboratively support the CEO in attending, documenting, and analyzing community engagement efforts and projects. You are able to identify and speak to key issues or actions required and seamlessly speak to and document the analyses. You are comfortable managing projects or meetings to support the CEO and organization in this work.
  • You will provide administrative support to the office of the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. You will assist with meeting preparation and minutes, acting as Board liaison and administrator, and attending external meetings with the CEO. The role will require you to communicate with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Executive Leadership Team, as well as providing strategic insight and advisory on administrative and project process improvement.
This position interacts with all levels of the Agency, the external community, local businesses, stakeholders, our funders, and donors. Your activities and assignments will align with YESS's vision, mission, and strategic and operational plans.


Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage strategic initiatives on behalf of the CEO
  • Provide research, analysis, monitoring, and recommendations on a wide variety of issues for the CEO
  • Provide project management support for complex planning and execution of CEO related initiatives
  • Provide support to the Executive Team on a wide variety of complex initiatives
  • Conceptualize and lead a variety of assigned projects which may be complex, confidential, and politically or community sensitive
  • Respond to adhoc requests for information, confidential advice, and prepare ad hoc reports
  • Act as a barometer having a sense for the issues taking place and keeping the CEO updated
  • Research, prioritize, and follow up on issues and concerns as assigned by CEO, assisting in determination of appropriate course of action, referral, or response
  • Work closely and effectively with the CEO to keep her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately
  • Work closely with the CEO in establishing and maintaining donor relationships and be comfortable fund development activities
  • Coordinate all activities associated with the Executive Team and Board of Director meetings, including agendas, minutes, information package, and action items
  • Compile and prepare meeting presentations for internal and external audiences, as requested by the CEO
  • Support strategic planning sessions and agency wide meetings, including all associated logistics
  • Coordinate budget activity for the CEO office through tracking, reconciling, and processing reimbursement claims and budget reports
  • Facilitate special projects as assigned
  • Perform other tasks as may be necessary to facilitate the work of the CEO and the Executive Team
You are a problem solver with impeccable communication skills and have a knack for diplomacy. You have experience managing projects and can navigate external audiences and stakeholders with ease. You understand the value of community engagement, the importance of fund development, and how communications internally and externally are critical in the not-for-profit sec
