Directly responsible to the Team Leader Operational Airworthiness on shift, this position is responsible for task observations, monitoring and conducting process audits and surveillance of or respective assigned area as part of the Air Canada Maintenance Quality Assurance Program.

This position is Temporary based in Vancouver.


Responsibilities

  • Collecting data to allow for trend monitoring and identification of performance trends pertaining to maintenance quality and safety.
  • Conducting or assisting with investigations related to quality or safety occurrences in the assigned area.
  • Coaching and guiding front assigned area personnel on processes, standards and requirements.
  • Delivering information sessions to personnel on processes and standards.
  • Assisting in developing and delivering remedial training and education to line maintenance technicians involved in a maintenance error, where contributing factors were identified as lack of adherence to policy, process, or SOPs.
  • Conducting peer to peer and work in progress for the purpose of continuous improvement.
  • Conducting assessments following evaluation or process audit procedures to support the granting or extension and follow up on requests submitted for task card and technical document revisions.
  • Conducting surveillances of contracted maintenance vendors while working on station.
  • Recording findings and reporting for further handling.
  • Preparing nightly airworthiness significant event synopsis.
  • Assisting in maintenance activities which require a dual inspection/signature, as requested.
  • Identifying to business unit any activities that may constitute a risk to the standard of airworthiness or safety.
  • Assisting in off base quality assignments and oversight activities.
  • Assisting in any quality assignments and oversight activities, as assigned by the Regulatory Compliance team.
  • Prompting safety reporting per the AC Safety Management System program.

Qualifications

  • Must have pertinent experience pertaining to aircraft maintenance, planning management and/or logistic methodology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety, environmental and other regulatory standards and policies is an asset.
  • Sound technical and working knowledge of processes, procedures and Information Technology Systems relative to the specific work area.
  • Proficiency with PC (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio)
  • Proficiency with maintenance computer system
  • Relevant experience in continuous improvement is an asset.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations depending on the work location. Please refer to Transport Canada site for more details.

Specific requirement

  • Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer M2 License

Specific Asset

  • Preferred endorsement on one or more of B787, B777, B , A319/320/321, B737 Max, A220, A330.
