    Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

    Position Overview

    The Shared Health Mental Health and Addictions program provides a range of mental health and addiction services across the healthcare continuum that support and promote recovery. Through collaboration and partnership across various health, social service and community sectors the program strives to promote mental health and well-being for all, to reduce inequities and the impact of mental health and addiction problems and to work towards sustainability of mentally healthy individuals and communities.

    Crisis Services is a ground-breaking and evolving program focused on the delivery of crisis services within theSharedHealthMental Health Program. This approach to crisis services continues to be a first of its kind in Canada and offers a constellation of walk-in, mobile, crisis stabilization and scheduled crisis response services. Crisis Services offers mental health crisis services seven days a week, 24 hours a day at two sites. Crisis Services includes multi-disciplinary teams of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers along with other clinicians and support workers

    Reporting to the Director Crisis Response Services, the Crisis Services Clinical Specialist addresses key clinical issues by providing clinical expertise and leadership in the areas of clinical practice, consultation, supervision, inter-professional collaboration, human resources and performance management, education and training, program planning and research.

    Experience

    • Four years related work experience required in the areas of population health, health promotion, community development, collaborative intra- and inter-sectorial partnerships, research, program development, evaluation or policy development.
    • Experience in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with a broad range of individuals and organizations, including the ability to facilitate, collaborate and resolve conflict.
    • Experience and skill in assessment and synthesis of literature as applied to practice, program and policy.
    • Experience in leadership, change management and team building.

    Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant healthcare discipline required.
    • Master's degree in Human Service/ Health field or related equivalency and experience preferred.
    • Special Training:
      • Comprehensive knowledge and advanced level of practice in clinical assessment and treatment models including but not limited to: Recovery model, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Strength Based Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Models, Addiction Disorders, Crisis Response, Case Management, Inter-professional Practice, Motivational Interviewing, prevention and promotion, service coordination and integration, supportive counseling, Trauma Informed Practice, Systems Theory.

    Certification/Licensure/Registration

    • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the appropriate registering body.
    • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Applied knowledge of mental health promotion, illness prevention and early intervention required.
    • Demonstrated successful leadership, supervisory and team management skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage program budgets
    • The incumbent will demonstrate:
    • A sound understanding of primary health care, population health, mental health, and health promotion.
    • Excellent oral communication skills including, group facilitation, consistent ability to express ideas effectively and maintain high functioning relationships
    • Excellent written communication skills including, writing reports and successful completion of funding and project proposals
    • Superior organizational skills including the ability to plan and manage multiple projects
    • Effective use of the principles of adult learning
    • Use of web-based and personal-computer based software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    Physical Requirements

    • Physically capable of providing service in a wide variety of community settings under varying weather and environmental conditions.
    • Access to a reliable motor vehicle suitable for all environmental conditions.
