What we are looking for:
Specifically, your duties will include:
Scheduling clinic appointments for initial and follow-up visits
Calling patients to schedule their appointments and provide information about preparing for their visit
Registering patients and entering orders
Greeting patients, answering and directing telephone calls to the appropriate personnel
Communicating effectively with the interprofessional team
Anticipating the needs of the clinic and ordering supplies, photocopying and filing
Preparing patient education handouts, letters, memo's as required
What you bring to the role:
Minimum 2 years unit secretary experience, preferably in a clinic environment
Sound knowledge of medical terminology
Proficient computer and typing skills
Experience with patient scheduling and registration modules
Experience with Meditech is preferred
Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast pace environment
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team as well as independently
Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
Demonstrated commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:
Primarily days, Monday to Friday for 8 hr shifts. Please note schedules may change based on operational needs.
Compensation:
Range $ $26.89 per hour
