    Description

    Purpose:

    Ancillary Services provides a wide range of professionally managed campus services and amenities to enhance the student experience and support York University's mission, vision and priorities.

    Reporting to the Executive Director, Ancillary Services, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of integrated marketing plans, including social media content, promotions, events and initiatives that will promote and develop engagement with, and drive sales for, York University`s Ancillary Services, including the YU-card program, Food Services, Housing Services, the York University Bookstore, Printing Services and Parking Services.

    This includes conceptualizing, developing, coordinating and integrating marketing plans, communications, initiatives and special events with internal and external partners to enhance the student experience and position York University as a leader in ancillary services.

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Communications or four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks

    Experience:

    Skills:

    Knowledge and experience of marketing practices/principles. Knowledge of consumer and student trends and issues, including sustainability practices. Creativity in the design and execution of marketing initiatives with a limited budget. Typing 50 accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Proficiency with desktop publishing software, such as InDesign and Photoshop, is preferred. Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel required. Basic knowledge of WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop preferred. Basic knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Elements. Design experience and proven expertise in creating brochures, newsletters, all social marketing communications, and promotional pieces. Must have the ability to write and edit a broad range of communications pieces for publication. Ability to write and edit at a senior level in English language. impeccable accuracy in grammar, spelling and content verification. excellent research, interviewing and recording skills. excellent oral communications. strong proofreading skills. Strong organization, time management, and project management skills. high level of customer service skills, tact, courtesy, and discretion are essential. Must have the ability to use a digital SLR camera and must have basic videography skills. Must work effectively under pressure and with a high volume of issues, must handle diverse communications assignments, and work independently
