Description

Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community.

We are looking to hire someone in the role of Social Media Coordinator to work collaboratively with the Bandology team to develop and implement social media strategies to grow our exposure and engagement.

Responsible for social media marketing planning and activities
Research, develop and implement a social media marketing strategy, identifying specific goals and measurable objectives, and implement tactics
Work collaboratively with fellow staff to create posts, surveys and stories
Develop a marketing and social media content calendar to promote our programs and services across a variety of platforms
Attend events to generate video and photo content for future social media posts
Coordinate, photograph and film testimonials from campers, parents, teachers and community members to publicize Bandology's mission
Collaborate closely with the Marketing Team to ensure effective communication, delivery and development of Bandology's message
Review, monitor and update the website as needed
Participate in three weeks of Band Camp in July/August and ensure that all campers have a fun and fulfilling experience
Enrolled or graduated from a post-secondary program specializing in marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations, journalism or similar
~2-5 years direct experience working in digital marketing, either paid or volunteer or as part of a co-op placement (not just as a user)
~ Excellent writing and proofreading skills, and ability to follow a style guide
~ Experienced in using all features in Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and other similar apps
~ Experience creating and editing videos for social media
~ Experience with graphic design software such as Canva, InDesign, etc.; enewsletter software such as Mail Chimp; and website software such as WordPress and related plug-ins
~ Comfortable working independently from your own personal space (Bandology is a virtual office) with regular in-person meetings and events (as appropriate) and access to your own computer with reliable internet connection
Experience with Google suite of programs, social media and public speaking
A background in instrumental music, whether from music class, piano lessons or personal interest would be useful
Camp experience, either as a camper or counsellor, would be useful
A police check and adherence to our vaccination policy (all staff must be fully vaccinated) will be required for the successful candidate

Bandology is dedicated to providing quality job experiences that allow young people the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills in a safe and welcoming space, as well as the chance to pursue different aspects and applications of their passion for music and music education.

Remote work utilizing regular Zoom meetings and a central Google Drive for files
Attendance at the weekly in-person meeting in Oakville as well as additional training and regular community events and workshops, which often occur on weekends
All staff work together collaboratively during Band Camp weeks (July 8-12, 22-26 and July 29 to August 2) and are expected to attend in person for the full week
