About Island Gold Mine

Alamos Gold's Island Gold Mine is one of Canada's highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. With over 550 team members, the underground operation is located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold's Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Role Overview/Purpose

The Technician, Mine Operations - Driller will safely operate drills and related equipment while ensuring operational needs are being met in a safe and environmentally sound manner.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of drills and related equipment in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
• Ensure all machinery is safe, appropriately document and report any faults or potential hazards.
• Strict adherence to safety in all tasks and interactions, including pre-start up, start-up and shut-down checks.
• Follow standard operating procedures and monitor all equipment and gauges for irregularities.
• Take appropriate corrective action to prevent any negative impact on the environment or quality and report non-compliance.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

• Previous experience in a mine or other heavy industry environment.
• Grade 12 education preferred
• Familiarity with drills and previous experience working near earth moving equipment.
• Experience with Sandvik drills preferred, DI650i & DR410i.
• A team player with solid communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• First aid and other relevant certifications would be an asset.
• Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements.

Working Conditions

• The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off or 14 days on / 14 days off (12 hour days).
