The Manager, Communications is responsible for overseeing a team of HR Generalists and ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of day-to-day HR operations.
Your Responsibilities:
- Support the development and active implementation of key strategic HR initiatives, policies and programs
- Oversee a small team of HR Generalists, providing guidance, coaching and support in many of the functional areas of HR, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, employee relations, leave and accommodation administration, benefits administration, recognition and wellness, etc.
- Manage the workflow and work distribution of the team to ensure objectives are being met
- Provide guidance and support to managers and team leads across the organization on best practices for addressing employee issues such as disciplinary action, progressive discipline, attendance, conflict resolution and terminations
- Oversee and promote the employee performance framework that includes regular and ongoing coaching and feedback and a supportive performance improvement approach
- Directly manage complex employee relations issues and concerns
- With the support of the team, responsible for the maintenance and functioning of the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy of information and preparation of reports
- Ensure HR compliance with health & safety, employment, and record keeping requirements
- Active participant in the CCTS DEI Committee, lead DEI related HR initiatives
- Work closely with the Director in the areas of job design and evaluation, compensation management, and talent development
- Provide recommendations on how to improve effectiveness and efficiency of the HR team, as well as recommendations on how to continue to build upon the overall existing HR framework
- Support the Director, and others within the organization, on key projects and initiatives as they develop
- You have a
minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior generalist human resources role, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory/management role - You have
relevant postsecondary education, such as a degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, or an equivalent of education and experience - You are bilingual and have excellent
communication skills, both verbal and written in English and French, while French is not required, this is highly preferred You have previous demonstrated
experience coaching and mentoring both employees and leaders - You have achieved your
CHRP/CHRL designation or are actively working towards this - You have previous experience managing and maximizing benefits of an
HRIS (currently using HUMI), and a basic understanding of payroll systems - You have very strong interest and ability to keep up to date with
applicable employment legislation including Ontario Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities, Human Rights and if you also have knowledge of Quebec legislation in these areas that is a strong asset
MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams
If you have knowledge of the telecommunications and/or broadcasting industry, in particular customer complaints, that would be an asset, but it is not necessary for success in this role.
They are able to quickly troubleshoot a variety of HR Issues, and a strong ability to delegate to and empower their team.
