Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Ontario, the Business Development Manager will identify, develop, and create opportunities for Construction Demathieu & Bard (CDB) Inc.

throughout the Ontario Heavy Civil construction market, working both externally with customers, partners, and clients, and internally with CDB's senior management to assist with development and delivery of company strategic growth strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Business Development and Marketing_
  • Strategically develop leads, opportunities for complex heavy civil construction projects with a focus on securing medium to large infrastructure projects in Ontario's transportation and water resource sectors.
  • Meet with key clients throughout Ontario to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain senior level customer relationships with infrastructure owners, customers, partners, and clients.
  • Deliver marketing presentations, attend meetings, and act as an ambassador for CDB.
  • Recognize, acquire, and track market intelligence relating to potential opportunities and upcoming strategic projects.
  • Participate in associations, conferences, and industry events to connect and expand CDB's client and partner network.
  • Actively build new partnerships with prospective clients, vendors, and private owners.
  • Working with CDB's senior management, develop and deliver on strategic growth initiatives.
  • Tender/Bids/Estimation_
  • Assist with large and strategic pursuits/proposals when required, including development of winning strategies, and responses to RFPs.
  • Support and assist with project estimation processes when required.

Work Conditions

  • Hybrid/Remote role
  • Frequent travel within and throughout Ontario

Qualifications required

Education

  • Postsecondary education in relevant construction or engineering fields, and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Certifications / licenses

  • Valid Ontario driver's licence

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of related industry experience in the Ontario heavy civil construction market, with preference to related business/commercial development or marketing roles.
  • Broad knowledge of the heavy civil construction market in Ontario, preferably in waterpower, dams, railway, or bridge sectors.
  • Direct experience with project estimation, marketing, and proposal development is an asset.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Great at building and developing professional relationships with clients and partners.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment as required.
  • Use initiative and communication to maintain a collaborative problemsolving approach.
