Currently SNC-Lavalin's PGIS Group has an exciting opportunity for a Civil/Structural Designer to provide support support on high voltage power transmission line and substation proposals.

This position is based out of the Burnaby office at 3777 Kingsway.


How will you contribute to the team?

  • Preparing drawings, including general layout drawings and civil / structural drawings, in accordance with established drafting standards, specified contractual requirements and in line with good engineering and drafting practices.
  • Ensuring drawings are checked, approved and filed in accordance with the relevant quality system procedure.
  • Preparing draftingrelated calculations.
  • Other tasks as required to support project goals and business activities.

What will you contribute?

  • A minimum of 25 years experience as a Civil Structural Designer / Drafter.
  • A recognized diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Experience in computer drafting in structural steel, concrete, architectural and plant site civil works drafting.
  • Power transmission and distribution industry experience.
  • Hydroelectric power and other renewable power industry experience.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D are essential.
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling.
  • Proficiency with Revit and Microstation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong technical capability and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • The ability to handle multiple diverse assignments successfully in a consulting firm environment.
  • The ability to perform as a key member of an interdisciplinary project team.
