    SCOPE
    The City of Surrey is seeking a dynamic and passionate Community Services Assistant 5 to support the Accessibility team within the Parks, Recreation and Culture department. The City of Surrey is committed to providing accessible and inclusive services, programs, and opportunities for all members of our community. As a part of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing related projects.

    EMPLOYMENT STATUS
    Union - CUPE Local 402 - Regular Part-Time

    RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, schedules, implements, evaluates, and provides feedback on a wide range of programs and services for the Accessibility Services team.
  • Reports on impact and results of portfolio strategy and activities through reports and presentations
  • Demonstrate strong leadership ability as you assist in the recruitment, training and scheduling of instructors and support staff.
  • Works with various community partners and individuals in the community to develop, deliver or facilitate programs and services.
  • Develops and delivers, in collaboration with other City departments, a variety of education and promotion workshops, information sessions, and training to raise awareness and enhance accessibility and inclusion throughout City services
  • Supports Parks, Recreation, and Culture staff with recommendations on modifications and adaptions for programs and services.
  • Ensures that the City's policies and procedures are met during the performance of ongoing duties.
  • Provides information to the public regarding programs in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Work effectively both independently and in a team setting
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from a recognized University or College level program and 2 years progressively responsible experience in recreation, including supervision, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate or acceptable equivalent.
  • Eligibility to register with BCRPA in relevant specialty or an acceptable equivalent.
    Applicants under consideration will be required to provide proof of qualifications and consent to a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.

    Pay Steps Hourly Rate
    Step 1 (Year 1) $32.04
    Step 2 (Year 2) $32.86
    Step 3 (Year 3) $33.83
