Dexter Construction Company is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces.

We are currently looking for a Primavera P6 Project Scheduler to join our team based out of Halifax, NS.


Job Summary:


The Project Scheduler will be expected to track progress, be able to develop and maintain a schedule in P6, run forecasting models, create weekly reports that will be used by the end client and internally.

This position will report to the Project Manager and assist in documenting all activities occurring onsite.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Create and maintain project development construction schedules based on specific requirements.
Understand and use project schedules to articulate logic scenarios for project planning purposes. (i.e., "what if" scenarios, multiple option paths, decision trees and points, etc.)
Assist Project Manager in creating short-term schedules and monitoring these schedules to determine impact on master schedule.
Prepare "look-ahead" reports and schedules.
Work with Project Manager to evaluate construction progress and provide weekly schedule updates.

Identify warnings, problems, or conflicts in the project schedule in real-time, based on specific input from multiple data sources, for the purpose of mitigating the impact of these risks.

Actively monitor and communicate any possible project issues that could delay the schedule.
Review schedules provided by external contractors, communicate changes, requirements, and deviations to the master schedule
Diligently track progress by comparing productions to forecast activity durations, updating activity productions as the project unfolds.
Analyze risk and contribute to the creation of recovery plans.
Any other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
Excellent understanding of creating reports via P6 exports into Excel.
Civil Construction experience and understanding of critical path activities.

Must be able to communicate schedule deviations and schedule logic at the appropriate level to different members of the project team.

Microsoft Project and Oracle Primavera P6.
Hands on experience with EPCM planning, creating, and maintaining complex project schedules using Primavera P6.
Be able to report proactively schedule deviations on assigned tasks and the overall project
Excellent understanding of schedule metrics and progress reporting
Comply with all safety policies and procedures; Working safely is a condition of employment.
