Description

We are looking for an energetic and knowledgeable skating coach to work with hockey players of all ages and skill levels.

Working with a skating treadmill is not a requirement.

At _The Skating Lab Toronto_, we are focused on instructing proper skating technique rather than using it as a conditioning stint.

The drills conducted on the treadmill are adjusted based on skating ability, by controlling the incline/elevation and speed of the treadmill.

This is high-intensity training, where the athletes work to improve their skating stride, edges, transitions, and puck control.

  • Is able to facilitate skating lessons in an organized and timely manner (training provided).
  • Can use demonstrations and coaching cues to help skaters achieve better technique and more power in their stride (will be trained on how to do so).
  • Able to motivate skaters to work hard. Being able to project your voice is helpful.
We have the most advanced Pro Shop equipment in the city. We work with a range of clients including professional athletes.

We are seeking someone who is keen to bring a high level of enthusiasum and attention to detail to this role.

Training is provided, however a Pro Shop background is an asset.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the safety of the athletes
  • Stride correction
  • Ability to coach large and small groups
  • Creativity in methods of coaching
  • Ability to educate, inform, and encourage athletes throughout the session
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the Lab
  • Sharpen and profile skates (training provided)
  • Skate repair

Education:


  • Have or in the process of completing a degree in Kinesiology or something similar is valued for this position but not required
  • Must have a strong background in hockey, ringette, or figure skating

Asset:


  • Previous experience coaching athletes/teams
  • Previous Pro Shop experience

$16.00-$22.00 per hour
