CHIEF NURSING OFFICER (CNO)


The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is seeking a dynamic and engaging
Vice President of Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to join its senior leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and motivated leader to assume a pivotal role in this well regarded organization.


The Vice President of Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) provides strategic leadership as the patient care/experience executive leader responsible for all nursing and other designated clinical patient care departments/services within the organization.

This position provides direction, leadership, planning, organizational and operational oversight for all aspects of patient care/experience by ensuring the integration of services and supporting the achievement of organizational objectives and strategies, including the provision of safe, quality patient care in a fiscally responsible manner.

As Vice President of Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) you will also participate and/or lead various leadership and regional committees with external stakeholders and partners.

You must possess a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment and will work in collaboration with senior leadership team forecasting needs and securing new programming and related funding.

This role also assists in the development of short and long range operational and capital plans. You will also be expected to provide mentorship and coaching for managers within your portfolio.


As a member of the MHA's senior leadership team reporting to the President & CEO, you will be a trusted partner to the President & CEO and will provide guidance and counsel to the senior leadership team in clinical and operational maters; provide direction and guidance for activities in accordance with policies; and support the achievement of current and long-range goals established by the CEO and Board of Directors.

You will work in partnership with the Chief of Staff, Program Chiefs, Managers, staff/physicians, and external partners to direct and deliver programs, services and experiences to meet patient care needs.

The individual will also provide direct support to the Quality, Safety and Risk Management Committee of the Board of Directors and the Patient and Family Advisory Council, and communicate with the CEO and Board committees on material quality, safety and patient care/experience matters.


Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:


  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • A relevant Masters degree is required (or in progress) with a minimum of 57 years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting
  • Excellent track record with Board of Directors, medical staff and external stakeholders and partners
  • Collaborative and visionary leader with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring people and mobilizing teams towards change
  • Committed to safe, quality patient care and positive patient/family experiences
  • Ability to support, advocate and represent all clinical professions, but specifically for the nursing profession internally and externally, as the CNE
  • Ability to manage to specific performance standards and to hold team members accountable
  • A leader who is actionorientated, able to sets goals and deliver results
  • Demonstrated strategic and systemslevel thinker
  • A selfaware, compassionate and empathic leader
  • A credible leader who acts with integrity, and has personal values that align with those of the MHA, and lives those values daily
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Seasoned facilitation, negotiation and problemsolving skills
  • Current driver's license and vehicle
  • Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and documentation of two Covid 19 Vaccinations
  • Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months
