JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all duties necessary for the administration, calculation and distribution of accurate wages
and benefits to employees.


DUTIES:

The incumbent will be responsible for full cycle payroll functions related to preparing and processing payroll in an accurate
and timely manner, in accordance with applicable legislation, collective agreements, benefit plans, policies and
procedures. This will include setting up new employees, entering all changes and terminations, and calculating earnings
and deductions. Responsibilities also include reconciling benefit deductions and sick leave, remitting source deduction
payments and issuing ROE's. This position will act as back-up for the other payroll positions as well as perform other duties
as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High school diploma; Postsecondary education or equivalent combination of education and
experience working with an unionized environment;

  • National Payroll Institute PCP certification or currently enrolled in the NPI program;
  • Three to five years related experience;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet strict

- deadlines;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (orally and in writing) with the ability to maintain
- confidentiality and exercise discretion;
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, and experience with computerized


  • Finance/Payroll systems;

  • Good knowledge of basic mathematical skills with attention to details, accuracy and record
keeping.
