Job Overview:


Freeman Lumber is currently seeking a Woodlands Operation Supervisor who will lead and oversee woodland operations in Western Nova Scotia.

The Woodland Operations Supervisor plays a vital role in managing all aspects of timber harvesting, road construction, woodland management, etc.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Woodland Operations Supervisor role involves extensive fieldwork and direct involvement in woodland operations.


Responsibilities include:


  • Oversee the daytoday activities of our contractor relationships
  • Build relationships with local contractors, stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Supervise harvesting and hauling contractors while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Supervise logging and road building contractors.
  • Develop and manage safety plans for contractors and team
  • Plan, facilitate and oversee road/boundary layout and road/culvert inspections when necessary
  • Provide support for contract administration

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Programs
  • Work with mínimal supervision
  • Must be physically capable of bending, reaching, lifting, and able to work in extreme environments, (hot, cold, rain, snow)

Qualifications:


  • Completion of postsecondary education in a forestry or environmental science
  • Forestry operations experience considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license: own vehicle is preferred

Compensation:

- $55,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience


Relocation:


  • Relocation assistance maybe provided as required. A shared company house is available close to the mill location.

$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
