Parks and Cemetery Summer Student

Town of Tillsonburg is looking for an outgoing Parks and Cemetery Summer Student to assist the Parks and Cemetery supervisory staff with the day-to-day operation of the Parks and Cemetery areas to ensure that the areas are well maintained and the user needs are met while operating in a safe manner.

This is a seasonal student position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined pension plan
:

Start date:
May 1, 2024.

End date:
September 1, 2024.

Hourly rate:
$16.55.

Weekly hours: 40.

Openings: 4.

Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position.

Responsibilities:

Working with the Parks and Cemetery staff or designate to provide a safe, clean and well run outdoor recreational areas
Basic garden maintenance
Maintain outdoor areas and all other sport facilities by operating push mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers, and small ride or grass cutting equipment
All other duties assigned

Qualifications:

Completion of high school, currently enrolled in postsecondary education
Parks or grass cutting experience
WHMIS Certified
Good people skills, ability to work as a team member to handle the public consistently and in a pleasant manner
Ability to work various shifts and weekends
Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Valid class "G" license and clean drivers abstract
Operation of midsized trucks, 1ton truck with dump box an asset
Must be returning to school in the fall.
