    Job Summary As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) team, the Associate Director, Wholesale Credit Risk, will provide risk assessment and adjudication for complex Capital Markets transactions.


    As trading and lending credit risk is the predominant form of credit risk that RBC incurs with respect to Asset Manager Sponsors and Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs), the Associate Director will be expected to participate in implementing effective and timely credit risk analysis.

    Clients will primarily be the higher risk and/or more highly complex relationships.


    As part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) team, the Associate Director, Wholesale Credit Risk, will provide risk assessment and adjudication for complex Capital Markets transactions.


    As trading and lending credit risk is the predominant form of credit risk that RBC incurs with respect to Asset Manager Sponsors and Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs), the Associate Director will be expected to participate in implementing effective and timely credit risk analysis.

    Clients will primarily be the higher risk and/or more highly complex relationships.


    As the second line of defense, you will work in partnership with various business partners (Sales/Trading desk, Corporate Banking, Credit & Transaction Management, CCR, Market Risk, Operations, Document Group, etc.) Work closely with the business on the risk aspects of any new transaction under consideration and provides direction and guidance as required to ensure the eventual deal structure adequately mitigates key risk concerns.

    Perform credit analysis on individual borrowers in order to establish/adjudicate borrower risk ratings; includes reviewing Risk Assessments (RAFs) which encompasses industry, business and financial risks.

    Resolve urgently fields requests for indicative ratings and requests for adjudication of bespoke loan and trading transactions.

    Maintain an up to date RAF approval schedule, and continuously reviews Borrower Risk Ratings (BRRs) on all assigned borrowers.

    Assist in daily monitoring of borrower's business and financial performance through monitoring of financial and industry information, regulatory changes, third party analysis including rating agency publications, and other early warning signals.

    Review Single Name Limit strategies and Transaction Requests within agreed timelines and/or turn-around benchmarks, highlights exceptions to applicable policies and guidelines, and suggests enhancements.

    Provide analytical and project support for internal reporting requirements, process optimization and data management.

    ~ Solid understanding of the financial markets and the role of NBFIs, backed by 5-7 years general credit analysis experience with a Financial Institution or Asset Manager, preferably in both a lending and trading capacity.
    Either possess a post graduate degree or is working towards a CFA or CA/CMA designation. An MBA is highly preferable.
    Knowledge and an understanding of financial statement analysis, with demonstrated financial modelling and analytical skills.
    Responsive, agile, and works with a sense of urgency. Superior time management skills and attention to detail, with ability to perform well independently and under pressure.
    Computer literate with high comfort level in use of word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation slides (Powerpoint).
    Working knowledge of Asset Manager and FMI Industries, with experience providing credit coverage for Sponsors/FMIs.
    Good understanding of lending and trading credit products including corporate loans, derivatives, securities financing, margin loans, etc.
    Proficient in Excel, including VBA/Macro as a tool for financial analysis and process optimization involving large data sets.
    Knowledge of and interest in pursuing a career in Risk Management.
