EYES Childcare Montessori Whitby is a new centre and we are looking for a fun, creative, passionate and dedicated RECE, ECA, OCT, SSW, or CYW to support a child with special needs within our preschool program.

• ECE'S/OCT'S MUST be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators/Ontario College of Teachers
• Understands the ELECT document, "How does learning happen", Play Based Learning and Reggio Emilia philosophies
• Experience with age groups ranging from toddler to kindergarten
• Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector
• Police Reference Check (if not obtained within the last 6 months)
• Current/valid First Aid and CPR-Level C
• Uptodate medical and immunizations
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID1
• Food Handler Certification (preferred)
• Must be able to lift 20 kilos
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as responsible and punctual
• Must be able to work between the hours of 7:00am 6:00pm

• To provide support and assistance to the regular program staff of the licensed Early Learning and Child Care Centre.
• To promote independence and avoid shadowing of the child/children with special needs, not to be 1:1, to help all the children to carry on and keep up with all the parts of the program, whether it is snack/lunch, washroom or outdoor play.
• To provide opportunities for all the program staff to interact with the child/children with special needs by carrying on with washroom routines, finishing a game or story, cleaning up creative and play areas.
• To be a member of the team that is responsible for the plans and goals so all staff have a chance to aid the child/children in working on speech and language, social/play, selfhelp skills etc.
• To suggest ideas, participate in discussions and attend staff meetings as required assisting with the inclusion of the child with special needs into the regular programmed activities.
• To interact, respond positively and encourage opportunities for success for all the children in the program by making changes to a game, activity, or by helping hand over hand.
• To be an enhancement to the child care staff, not to be included in the regular class ratios. Available to do jobs, duties as needed, so ratios will not be affected, such as supplies or snack needed from down the hall, child needing a change of clothes from the coatroom etc.
• To be knowledgeable of and comply with the Policies and Procedures of the center where they are working.
• To remember the primary responsibility, decision making and behavioural redirecting remain with the Early Learning and Child Care Centre's regular program staff.
