HYBRID:

This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Markham office approximately 1 to 2 days a week.

COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.

Program Term

This role is a 12-month position, with a possibility (no guarantee) for a 4-month summer extension based on work performance and business conditions

THE ROLE


The SSE Strategic Alignment and Analytics team ensures that the 500-strong Software Systems Engineering organization driving product and software quality at AMD is a well-oiled machine.

The team develops the strategy and initiatives to drive alignment across the organization and with the rest of the company.

Data and analytics play a key role to the team's success.


As a Technical Writer, you will become familiar with the vast ecosystem of tools, processes and data sources making up the software development lifecycle (SDLC) through conversations and relationships you build within the organization.

From these sources, you will gather, structure, streamline content and assimilate these into different platforms (e.g., document repository, internal reference pages, learning management systems) for consumption by various teams in SSE.


THE PERSON

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with multiple teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the processes and documentation requirements
Produce high-quality technical documentation that meets applicable standards
Contribute towards design of styles, templates and standards to be used for documentation across teams
Work with the PM to create, modify and adhere to the standards to be followed for documentation across multiple platforms
Work with Admin/IT to structure the documentation repository
Work closely with tech experts to convert existing content into an LMS (Learning Management System) consumable format
Work closely with tech experts for management of content in the LMS
Assist in the structure and organization of artifacts produced for different meetings
Assist in the proofreading of a quarterly magazine that promotes the culture and achievements of the Software organization


DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Between 3rd and 4th year of studies pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field/discipline
Basic understanding of LMS
Experience with web based content/collaboration platforms like Confluence, SharePoint, Zoomin, etc.
Working experience with XML-based data models for authoring
Understanding of SDLC
