The Ministry of Health leads work in the areas of Alberta health insurance and benefits, doctors, hospitals and facilities, and other healthcare supports and information.
Role Responsibilities:
This role requires a high level of agility and adaptability while balancing day-to-day procedural requirements, timelines and staffing supports. The ability to anticipate, identify and proactively address service delivery concerns is vital to success.
Additionally, the ability to effectively share pertinent and timely information with the provision of possible strategic solutions with colleagues and leadership is key.
Licensing and compliance functions/duties may present diverse, complex and potentially politically as well as publicly sensitive challenges and often intersect with other program areas.
The ability to recognize and utilize sound judgment to address both concerns and opportunities via appropriate legislative as well as procedural tools is a critical function of the Licensing and Compliance Unit and how the Manager supports the work and unit staff.
Through the lens of a licensing and compliance framework and the continuous review of policy and process, the Manager will provide recommendations for improvement when problems and/or opportunities present themselves.
Reporting to the EHS Director, Licensing and Compliance in the Emergency Health Services Branch, this position provides leadership and direction, applies strategic thinking and results-based methods to ensure that the business plan goals as well as objectives are achieved.
The Manager will actively and collaboratively work with and support Branch and Division leadership while leading a team of EHS Specialists in addressing barriers and facilitating effective processes to address complex issues including risk assessment and mitigation, impact analysis as well as system improvements.
As a key and primary stakeholder contact, the Manager is required to build and maintain key relationships both internally and externally to ensure appropriate and timely sharing of critical information to government officials across all levels of leadership.
With a broad understanding of government objectives, goals and strategies including sound knowledge of the integrated healthcare system, this position also requires the ability to provide in-depth expertise related to EMS service delivery with a focus on evidenced-based best practices facilitating compliance of ambulance operators and staff with Emergency Health Services legislation as well as policy.
Qualifications:
University graduation in a field related to Management, Health Administration, Public Policy, or graduate of a recognized Paramedic program or other regulated health practitioner program with a combination of work and management experience supplemented by three years related experience.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one year of education for one year of experience or vise versa.

- Related management experience with demonstrated strengths in leadership and policy development.
- Preferences will be given to those with:
- Experience with licensing and compliance monitoring to legislation
- Members of a regulated health profession
- Project or case management experience
- Asset:
- Experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Location:
ATB Place North, 10025 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton Alberta, T5J 1S6. Flexible for other locations in Alberta based upon operational requirements. This position may also require occasional provincial travel.

Hours are 36.25, Monday to Friday.
